AFLAS® Fluoroelastomers
Alternating copolymers of tetrafluoroethylene and propylene, AFLAS® Fluoroelastomers possess the highest heat resistance of all synthetic rubbers as well as excellent volume resistivity (greater than 1016 Ω cm) unmatched by any other fluoroelastomer. Mechanical properties do not deteriorate even after prolonged exposure to temperatures of 200 °C. In fact, AFLAS can be used continuously for two to three months at 230 °C and for 10 to 30 days at 260 °C.
Resistant to acids, alkalis, amines and ozone (no change after one month exposure in 50 ppm of ozone at 40 °C), AFLAS fluoroelastomers are the material of choice for products and systems that work in tough environments and require high reliability. These high-performance fluoroelastomers are easily compounded by open mill mixers and internal mixers. Compounds can be fabricated into finished parts and shapes using press molding, injection molding, extrusion and calendering processes.
