Research Shows Microsphere Silica Gels Improve Cosmetic and Skincare Product Formulations

EXTON, Pa., September 10, 2020 – AGC has released research demonstrating that using microspherical silica gels in personal care product formulations improves performance properties.

This series of studies shows that microspherical silica gels:

  • Enhance frictional properties such as slipperiness and smoothness for spreadability better than plastic beads in water-in-oil sunscreen formulations.
  • Absorb more oil, perspiration and sebum than plastic beads, which helps foundations and other makeup products last longer without shine.
  • Improve matte properties and physical stability in lipstick formulations.
